Court & Jurisdiction Guide

Larson Justice Center

Superior Court of California, County of Riverside

The Larson Justice Center is the courthouse where most criminal cases from the Indio area are heard — arraignments, hearings, and trials take place here. This is not the jail. If your loved one has been arrested and you need to post bail or arrange release, that happens at the John J. Benoit Detention Center. This page covers the court side: arraignments, case lookups, and the Clerk's Office.

Arraignments

What happens at arraignment

An arraignment is the first court appearance after an arrest. At the Larson Justice Center, the judge reads the charges, the defendant enters a plea, and the court may review bail or set conditions of release. This is also when the right to an attorney is confirmed and future hearing dates are scheduled.

Arraignment timing depends on the charge and whether the defendant is in custody. In-custody arraignments are generally scheduled quickly; out-of-custody defendants receive a date to appear. If you are unsure when the arraignment is, call the court at (760) 393-2617 with the defendant's name and case number.

Posting bail does not replace the arraignment. Even after release, the defendant must attend every scheduled court date at the Larson Justice Center. Missing a hearing can result in a bench warrant and bond forfeiture.

Case Lookups

How to look up a case

Case information for matters heard at the Larson Justice Center is maintained by the Superior Court of California, County of Riverside. You can look up a case online through the Riverside Superior Court's public portal using the defendant's name or case number.

What you'll need to look up a case

  • The defendant's full legal name, and date of birth if available
  • The case number, if you have one (it appears on court paperwork)
  • The approximate date of arrest or filing

If you can't find the case online, the Clerk's Office can help locate it. Call (951) 222-0384 during Clerk's hours (7:30 AM–2 PM, Mon–Fri) with the defendant's name and any case details you have.

Clerk's Office

Clerk's Office information

The Clerk's Office at the Larson Justice Center handles court filings, records requests, fee payments, certified copies, and general case questions. It is the place to go for paperwork and records — not for posting bail.

This is the courthouse, not the jail

The Larson Justice Center is where cases are heard — arraignments, hearings, and trials. If someone you know has been arrested and you need to post bail or arrange release, that takes place at the detention facility, not here. See our guide to the John J. Benoit Detention Center for booking, bail posting, and release information.
